Bionic Woman and Life: Approve

Last night I saw the 2 new NBC shows, Life and Bionic Woman. I enjoyed watching both. While they were not great, they showed some potential. I think that Damian Lewis did a fantastic job with his role. He was funny (not as funny as Hugh Laurie) and preceptive with people.

Michelle ryan did a fantastic job with bionic woman. I was a little underwhelmed by some of the other cast, but I'll wait to see how they develop next week.

What did you think?

What? No comment on Journeyman?

Bionic Woman was interesting. I think the pacing suffered from trying to cram too much into the pilot: if you blink, you'll miss what looks to be some major subplots with that guy's dad. There seems to be a lot of other subplots that were thrown in but only got a clipped line or two spoken before we get thrown into another new subplot. If the introduction of some of the subplots were saved for the second or third episode, then the subplots that remained in the pilot could be fleshed out a lot more.

The thematic visual distortion didn't fit some scenes, either. (Seems like they were doing it just to make the scene more interesting, instead of for any story purpose.) But pilots aren't perfect so I'll wait and see how everyone settles into their roles.

Life was also interesting, though the main character tends to look more creepy than contemplative at times. Again, I'll see how he settles into his role.

Journeyman had the best pilot of the three. Some subplots were hinted at throughout the pilot without being thrown in the viewer's face. We didn't need random scenes taking us here and there to introduce and expand on the various subplots.

I'm ashamed to admit that last night I watched American Next Top Model and Gossip Girl! So, I know nothing about Bionic Woman...

My wife loves BW, I was surprised that the lead character is from UK. I don't even detect an accent from the "queen's english".

Oh, I found your site via http://frugalzeitgeist.blogspot.com
